What was your initial experience with yoga?

I danced for 13 years growing up. After my ballet world ended, I needed another outlet. Movement has always been a source of freedom and liberation, and for me, finding my own internal liberation, I knew, would come from connecting with physical movement. I stepped into a random yoga class at a random fitness gym 15 years ago and as they say, the rest was history.

What do you find most rewarding about teaching/sharing yoga?

Connection. The deeper my yoga practice takes me, the deeper I begin to understand that yoga is all about a connecting force—connecting me with myself, with my students, our community, this universe. Being able to teach this—to teach that there is no separation but rather an immense feeling of harmony and connection between all forms of creation. Sharing yoga allows me to share a part of who I am. A part that brings me to life, each time I step on the mat and then off.

Do you have a favorite yoga pose?

My favorite yoga pose is Ardha Chandrasana or half moon pose. It’s the perfect balance of heart-opening and strengthening. It is a constant reminder for me that strength is rooted not in brute force, but rather an open heart that is receiving to all.
