Which of NordicTrack’s EXP series treadmills is the right one for you – 14i, 10i, or 7i? These are the most popular NordicTrack products and have different price points and features. What matters most to you is getting the best value for your money, without overspending on additions you won’t use!

We give you a clear summary of the best choice here.

NordicTrack EXP 7i, 10i, and 14i: What’s The Difference?

These 3 models are separated on the NordicTrack range, based on their features and end price. They’re all from the same designer though, so you’re going to see a lot of commonality.

The 7i is the cheapest and entry-level model out of the 3, around 33% cheaper than the other models, with a more basic approach. This is reflected in the quality and features of the control panel, in particular, with a clearer display and better customisability for your workouts.

The 10i is a mid-ground model for most of us, with a combination of features and value, whereas the 14i is more feature-focused. This is seen in the advanced 14” screen and control tech, as well as the greater incline and decline range on the running deck (from -3% to 12%).

Speed

All 3 NordicTrack EXP models have a speed range of to 12mph. This is for more casual runners who are looking to burn fat, build endurance, and get into great shape. If you want to run a serious road race, then you may want to invest in something faster. NordicTrack’s 2450 is a good choice for competitive runners with a higher top speed of 19mph.

Incline and Decline

The 7i has a 12% maximum incline – which is also the maximum for the 10i and 14i. However, these latter two models also have declines, allowing you to overspeed and improve your running mechanics.

This can be a huge help for long-term progression, building better ground-contact response to boost speed, improve running mechanics, and keep your joints safe. For more serious runners, that added training option is a great option to have for workout variety and better results.

Motor Power

Motor power helps drive the running deck, and it also helps reduce the risk of long-term malfunction. If you have “headroom” in your motor, it will always be operating at lower stress, offering better total longevity.

The 7i has a 3 horsepower motor, while the 10i and 14i offer 3.5, building more surplus to keep your treadmill going for longer. This is an important extra to have if you’re planning on running on an incline – or at high speeds – regularly. It is generally recommended to get a treadmill with at least 1.5hp and more like 2hp if you are over 120kg, so these Nordictrack treadmills have this easily covered.

Tread Belt

The tread belt of the 14i has had a major upgrade, using the commercial-quality drive belt that’s also found in elite models like the 2450. This ensures a smoother run and a better experience overall than the other models.

Screen Size

Screen sizes are represented by the name – the 7i has a 7-inch screen, and so on. This means the 14i has a clear advantage in screen size. They’re all touchscreen and HD, offering you the best and easiest experience – including changing your run speed and incline on-the-fly.

The larger screen is a bonus, but only if you’re going to make use of it for tracking your workout, managing your Bluetooth, and using (or selecting) pre-programmed workouts.

Our Verdict: Which Is Best?

The NordicTrack EXP 10i is the best option for most people, most of the time. It offers the motor headroom and decline options of a premium treadmill while retaining a lower price point than the 14i.

The balance of this product makes it the best EXP series treadmill for most home gyms. The 7i is a great budget alternative, and the 14i is perfect if you’re looking for a one-time purchase, but don’t want to commit to the full athlete experience (like the more expensive 2450).

These are all great treadmills, offering Nordic’s top of the line experience, but the 10i blends the most important features into the best all-rounder!
