A Guide to the Working of Yoga Teacher Training

All the workout regimes come and go but the only constant form of working out and a common form of physical, mental, and spiritual exercise is Yoga. For more than 5.000 years now, Yoga has been making people’s life better by delivering a balance between body, mind, and soul. And, a yoga instructor training does a lot more than burning extra calories or toning the muscles. In yoga teacher training, you will learn both the stretching and strengthening poses along with the synchronization of breaths and meditation. You can choose from the hundreds of forms of Yoga, a type that is ideal for you to become a yoga instructor. Some examples of Yoga forms are:

  • Vinyasa– Poses in series which flow smoothly from one to another.
  • Hatha– It is associated with the synchronization of basic movements with breathing.
  • Power- This form has high-intensity and is known for building muscles.
  • Yin– A form in which the poses are held for a longer duration.
  • Ashtanga- A set sequence of poses that is combined with special techniques of breathing.
  • Iyengar- A form in which the use of props is extensive which helps in attaining proper alignment.

Intensity of Yoga

The intensity of your Yoga practice varies from one form to the other. It depends on which style you are choosing for the yoga instructor training. For instance, hatha yoga and Iyengar yoga tend to be on the gentle side while power yoga tends to be on the challenging side.

Areas of target

Core- There are certain forms of Yoga that target the core muscles of your body. From a side plank to a boat pose, you will be taught the poses that build your core strength and muscles.

Arms- In yoga, your arms won’t develop by lifting heavy weights but, through your body weight. Poses like planks are known to evenly distribute your strength between legs and arms.

Legs– The yoga poses work on all sides of your legs, be it thighs, hips, or quadriceps.

Glutes– Certain poses in Yoga involve a deep bending of knees which in turn will deliver you with a sculpted rear.

Back– There will be poses in the yoga teacher training which will stretch your muscles and will help you in relieving the sore back.

The type

Flexibility-  When you become a yoga instructor, you will witness how the stretching of muscles has resulted in an increased range of motion and improved flexibility.

Aerobic-  The athletic styles of yoga teacher training will make you sweat and according to the research, Yoga is found to be equally effective as aerobics.

Strength-  It will require a lot of strength to hold the weight of your body and that is why it is not a five-finger exercise to become a yoga instructor. A regular and consistent practice will only strengthen your arms, back, and core.

If you are a beginner, don’t be afraid to take up the challenging forms for the Yoga Instructor Training, because be it the gentle form or the challenging form, you will master yoga only by consistent practice.
